Excellence in wine, fine food and hospitality form the basis of Tower Estate. The Tower Estate Winery, along with the luxurious Tower Lodge and renowned Robert’s Restaurant, create the perfect trinity that is Tower Estate. This is the passion of Len Evans AO OBE, an industry father that has been at the pinnacle of the wine and gourmet scene within Australia for decades.

Located at Pokolbin in the heart of the Hunter Valley – one of Australia’s great wine regions –Tower Estate Winery selects the very best varietals not just locally, but from individual vineyards throughout Australia. Tower Estate’s winemaker, Scott Stephens sources fruit from regions around Australia – this means that our vintage starts in late January with the arrival of Hunter Valley Semillon and lasts until Tasmania Pinot Noir reaches us in early May. This long season gives us the time to devote to creating great wines, a luxury that many other wineries simply don’t have. Our philosophy is to produce wines of classic style from fruit sourced from the specific Australian region that best suits a particular grape variety and style.

Scott Stephens, Wine maker at Tower Estate joined the winery in late 2005.  Formerly the winemaker at McWilliams Mount Pleasant, Scott brings a wealth of experience having been involved in winemaking in the Hunter Valley for the past 15 years, completing his bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) at Charles Stuart University in 1997. Scott has also worked vintages in France, California and Coonawarra.

Established in 1999 Tower Estate Winery, was designed for hand made wines using traditional techniques. This process starts with pruning the grape vines, hand picking the grapes, plunging of red skins and even the time honoured technique of “pigeage” (foot stomping) of red skins. These are laborious, time consuming, and expensive – but essential in making fine wine.
